it. Three years ago, Pomann Sound and Brushfire Advertising, teamed up to do our first New Jersey Lottery radio spot. Three years later, we're still working together to bring some of the funniest commercials to the air. And now, we're spreading our lottery love to New York State. Recently teaming up with DDB Worldwide, Pomann Sound has just finished casting, recording and mixing our first New York Lottery radio spot.

Happy Halloween!

Its Halloween folks, which usually means pillow cases filled with future cavities, and trying to trade all of your candy corn to that one friend who loves them...weird. Anyways, in this city it usually means getting dressed up, going out and getting on some pretty awkward subway rides. Believe me there's nothing stranger then being the only Waldo walking through Grand Central. With that, we all hope everyone has fun and safe Halloween.In the mean time, check out these awesome pumpkins our engineer Justin carved.

For all you space geeks and audio nerds, Wired.com has a great interview article with Composer Steven Price who recently just wrote the score to "Gravity". Taking place in outer space, sound design and music composition can be tricky, well because there's no sound in space. The article talks about how Price captured the intense feeling of being alienated in space through the use of sound. You can check out the article here and even listen to the entire soundtrack.

Let The Fighting Begin

Adam Richman and a show with food? No way! He's back, on a new network and coming for your best recipe. The guys here at Pomann Sound have been recording ADR for NBC upcoming show Food Fighters, which features Mr. Richman getting you to cook your best dish against 5 professional chefs. Food Fighters will be airing late this year and into the new year. Stay tuned foodies!

Rockstars' at Pomann

Well its finally here. The new Grand Theft Auto game has been out for 3 weeks now and has taken the world by storm. Making over 1 Billion in sales (enough to outsell the entire music industry) GTA 5 has become the most successful release in all entertainment. We here at Pomann Sound were incredibly humbled when we got the call from Rock Star to use our facility to record some VO for their numerous interactive in game radio stations. We just haven't been able to talk about it, until now. Both Max and Justin recorded some hilarious voice overs for Weazel News, GTA's mock Fox news and some on street heckling.

Back To Reality

Its been a busy summer here at Pomann Sound. Between mixing spots for the NY Jets, recording voice overs for New Jersey Lotto and getting a couple of Indie Movies ready for Sun-Dance, we've been a little crazy. But now its back to reality, and I'm not referring to our mental state. Its fall, which means Reality TV is back in full swing. The guys over at Sharp Entertainment have us busy mixing a few new shows this season including A&E's hit new show 'Bad Ink' and TLC's 'Extreme Cheapskates' just to name a few. You can catch brand new episodes of 'Bad Ink' on Wednesdays at 10:30 pm.

Psych!

For us at Pomann Sound, our childhood dreams just came true. The Karate Kid himself came to record some ADR. No, not Jaden Smith and its not for another Kirate Kid movie. The original Miyagi Protege, Mr. Ralph Macchio, came in to the studio to record ADR for this upcoming season of USA's hit show 'Psych'. Mr. Macchio was gracious enough to take a picture with Josh and Jordan and was a pleasure to work with. We we're excited to say the least.

Dynamite ADR

Pomann Sound recently partnered up with the comic gurus over at Adult Swim to record some ADR for one of their new hilarious shows, Black Dynamite. Originally based on a live action movie, this animated spin off packs a huge punch and brings back all of the mid 70's Kung Fu Disco Pride. We were joined by the very talented Charlie Murphy and legendary actor Marvin Van Peebles, who were both a huge pleasure to work with. You can catch the new season of Black Dynamite this fall on Adult Swim.

Football is back, and so are your New York Jets! Pomann Sound has recently teamed up with the Jets and Fly Communications to kickoff the new season right with its new TV and Radio promo. We might not all be Jets fans here at Pomann, but after yelling J-E-T-S in the booth at the top of lungs we can all see why Jets fans are so die hard. Take a look!

Pomann's Own Wins Award!

Big Congrats to our assistant engineer, Rich Cerbini for winning the "Rising Star" award at his alma mater, School of Audio Engineering this past week. All four nominations for the award were given out by the staff and go to alumni who have accomplished the most within two years of graduation. Unfortunately for the three other grads Rich is a boss, and took that trophy home. Not bad for being 21 years old.The downside is that he ended his speech with 

"you like me, you really like me!"

POMANN SOUND CASTING DIRECTOR JOHN McKINNEY NOMINATED FOR PRESTIGIOUS PLAYWRITING AWARD.

As some of you already know, our casting director extraordinaire, John McKinney, has for the last several years been leading a secret life as a playwright.  (Which may explain his facility with directing actors and working with copywriters.)  Well, as of last week, John’s secret is out. Because his latest full-length play, The Chekhov Dreams, has just been nominated for best original full-length script by the New York Innovative Theater Awards, one of the most prestigious awards in Off-Off Broadway theater.

The Chekhov Dreams, was nominated for two awards, in fact, the second being for best actress in a leading role (who John was instrumental in discovering and casting – naturally). 

But the accolades don’t stop there!  The play also contains a monologue which will be published later this year by Smith & Kraus in their upcoming anthology, Best Monologues of 2013, Men.  This marks John’s second published work this year alone along with his short play, Unintelligent Life, which will be appear in the upcoming volume, Best 10 Minute Plays, 2013.

We feel John’s skill as a playwright can only expand his ability to network with the New York talent pool to help find the most talented actors for our clients.  And you can bet we’ll be rooting for him at the awards ceremony on September 30th.  But that won’t stop us from breaking open the champagne now!  

ADR and Crossbows

The Zombie Apocalypse has come to Pomann Sound! No, its just Norman Reedus, the cross bow wielding bad-ass from AMC's hit show Walking Dead. For some of you die hard fans out there, Norman came in to record ADR for this upcoming fourth season! Were looking forward to see what surprises they have in store this season, and of course some sweet sounding ADR done by our own Walking Dead fan boy Max, who I'm pretty sure was giggling in his seat the whole session, sorry Max. 

Once Upon A Time...At Pomann!

Last week, we had the great privilege to work with one of the most successful Bollywood actors of all time, Akshay Kumar! Our boy Max and he laid down some sweet sounding V.O. for the trailer for his new movie "Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Again" the sequel to an action packed love story were Akshay plays the ultimate villain. Portraying former mob boss Dawood Ibrahim, Akshay couldn't have been more opposite then his character in real life. He brought a real humbleness to the studio and was a pleasure to work with. We hope to see you soon Akshay! And if you haven't hopped on that Bollywood train, it's not too late. They're making some real quality stuff over there.

Adam Richman is back! His new show “Fandemonium”, which premiers July 14th on Travel Channel, focuses on the most die hard fans across the country. From Bonnaroo to the Indy 500, Adam finds himself meeting some of the most dedicated, loving and downright looney fans. Not only did the champion of food stop by to record some audio, but so did his film crew, as they came to shoot some footage right here at Pomann Sound!

Pomann Sound recently teamed up with Starbright Media and Dr. George Colburn, a true history guru, to mix Eisenhower’s “Secret War”. These two 60 minute documentaries give great insight on a man whose military background and unwavering political bi partisanship gained him the Presidency. “Secret War” aired on WLIN in the city and at Primetime around the country.

Alien Dawn Premiere!

As you know, we teamed up to with our friends at Larry's Band and Crook Brothers to work on their new show “Alien Dawn.” Alien Dawn tells the story of Cameron turner and his quest to uncover clues that may lead to why his comic author father went missing. Pomann Sound recently teamed up with Havas and mixed the national TV spot for Ritz’s “Kick Up The Kickoff” Sweepstakes, which offers 2 tickets to New Orleans for Super Bowl Sunday as a prize for the best NOLA inspired Ritz recipe! Madonna Mia, talk about an "inside job!" Giovanni Ribisi gave Max some pointers on how to be a mobster while recording for his new film "Gangster Squad."  It was so freakin' cold in NY that he left his freakin'  fedora at home .

US of Bacon delves into our country's fascination with the sizzling delight as host and renowned chef Todd Fisher searches for the most mouthwatering bacon creations kitchens all across the states have to offer!
